The IAGS Executive Board, in consultation with 15th Biennial Conference Planning Committee, has concluded that the health risks due to Covid-19 outweigh the benefits of holding an on-ground conference in Barcelona this coming July. We apologize for the inconvenience this change may cause, but we believe protecting health and giving as many people as possible the chance to participate in this event are the main priorities. We will instead move forward to organize an all-virtual conference in its place.

We are planning a robust interactive conference with ample opportunities for informal gatherings and exchanges in addition to top-notch panels, keynotes, and other events including programs for emerging scholars and others through an optimal professional virtual conference platform. The decision to go to virtual format was a difficult one, especially since our excellent local partners at the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona had devoted over a year to organizing what promised to be a superb conference. We hope that the connection between the revised virtual format and the conference theme of Genocide in the Digital Age will foster innovative uses of technology for participants’ presentations.

We are pleased to announce that our Barcelona partners have graciously agreed to hold our 16th Biennial Conference in the summer of 2023. More details of our July 2021 virtual conference will be forthcoming. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
